About this Unit
Following on from the previous unit of physics, this unit provides an understanding of engineering principles to operate and manage industrial processes effectively. Students learn to be able to account for mass and energy balance, to evaluate the performance of pumps and other material handling equipment, to evaluate the performance of heat transfer equipment and steam generators. Topics include: mass and energy balance, liquid transport, flow measurement, pump, material handling, refrigeration, heat exchanger, unsteady state heat transfer, steam generation, boiler, electricity supply and efficiency.
