About this Unit
This unit aims to introduce students to the issues, concepts and practices involved in the management of people and operational processes in work organisations. The first part deals with organisational behaviour, including the dynamics of workplace behaviours of individuals and groups, the more important theories of leadership and motivation, contemporary developments in the study of organisational culture and the management of organisational change. The second part provides an overview of the major activities of the human resource management function, including staff recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, EEO, training and development, wage and salary administration and industrial relations.
