About this Unit
The aim of this unit is to introduce students to important skills required for food scientists and nutritionists. Students will be required to develop communication, library and critical thinking skills. In addition students will be introduced to important aspects of cleaning and sanitation, food composition, specifications, spoilage and preservation. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACPP). Codes of Good Manufacturing Practice (CoGMP) and food quality. Students will process a selected food product in the pilot plant.
