About this Unit
The role of the family and the problems created by the breakdown of marital and other family relationships are issues of major concern in modern society. Family Law endeavours to regulate vital interpersonal and property disputes at times of high personal stress, and often animosity. Family Law is therefore called on to make difficult decisions in balancing the competing rights, obligations and interests of partners, children and others. This unit analyses the interrelationship between social issues, public policy and law.
