About this Unit
To develop within the student an understanding of the principles of analytical chemistry, including wet chemical analysis (volumetric and gravimetric) and instrumental methods of analysis. Gain an understanding of quantitative analysis, stoichiometry and equilibria. Appreciate the process of analytical data analysis, errors, precision and accuracy. Introduce the student to separation methods, including precipitation, chromatographic and electrophoretic. Introduce spectroscopic methods of analysis, emission and absorption. Study electrochemical methods of analysis, polarography, ion selective electrodes.
