About this Unit
This unit has been replaced by 101182 - Behaviour and Environment. This unit is about computers, psychology and the mind. Technology and a mechanistic view of human behaviour and thought have long influenced psychology. This unit traces the development and controversies associated with the idea that human perceptual and cognitive processes such as vision, memory and reading are mechanistic and computational. Computer Models in Psychology consider the role of model building in the history of science and psychology and examine the influence of technology on psychological theory. This unit also introduces computers as tools of experimental design and presentation.
