About this Unit
This unit looks at the major social and political theory of the West from fifth century BC Greece to the eighteenth century, and the historical context from which this theory emerged. The unit includes critical evaluation of primary texts which exemplify this theoretical tradition, and a study of the way in which these theories underpin the intellectual developments of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that were studied in first year philosophy.
