About this Unit
This unit adds to the understanding of language acquisition by drawing on candidates' experience of reading and writing in order to develop these two specific language skills. By deepening the knowledge of both processes through examining theoretical positions of how readers come to make meaning, and by identifying specific phases which are keys to successful writing, this unit explores applying these two skills in an integrated context. A variety of strategies and demonstrated approaches to developing reading and writing competencies are provided, to develop a range of teaching approaches.
