About this Unit
In 2019 this unit replaced by 301212 Science of the Anthropocene.The unit deals with how how the lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and atmosphere are interconnected through global biogeochemical processes. Topics include-the composition of ocean, ground and surface waters and their interactions with the atmosphere, rocks, soils, sediments and man-made pollutants; transfer of dissolved material between environments, and detection and control of toxic waste materials; environmental quality criteria, field sampling and modelling of selected environmental systems. These topics will be brought to life in a two-day field trip to Sunny Corner undertaken in the mid-session break.
