About this Unit
This unit has been replaced by 101352 - Mind, Body and Emotion. This unit introduces and develops socio-psychological approaches to mental health and illness and the emotions. Students will encounter some of the fundamental problems which arise when we try to understand the relationship between mind, body and emotion, diagnosis and intervention, and the social construction of mental health and illness. The approach will of necessity draw on a variety of disciplines, and theory as well as research in psychology and sociology. The aim is to familiarise students with some of the issues involved and to explore their practical implications through a range of topics they are likely to encounter in their health and education workplaces.
