About this Unit
Students acquire the knowledge and skills to identify and classify medicinal plants, and to understand the pharmacological basis of herbal medicines. This unit introduces an historical and philosophical orientation to medical herbalism. Students learn to identify and describe medicinal plants, and explore their therapeutic effects. They study the origin and manufacture of Bach flower remedies and their application in clinical practice. A part of this unit is conducted in a clinical setting, where students learn to facilitate positive and therapeutic relationships with clients. This component is integrated with 25059 Nutrition 1 clinical practice to provide students with their first opportunity to develop the skills for integrating the naturopathic and the allopathic approach to assessment and treatment.
