About this Unit
This unit equips students with an understanding of the naturopathic approach to nutrition, and knowledge of the nutritional composition of food. Students examine carbohydrates, lipids and proteins in terms of their structure, food source and absorption, and problems associated with their excess and deficiency states. Specific diets are studied and evaluated in terms of their therapeutic applications. Foods used as supplements and common toxins found in foods are also examined. A part of this unit is conducted in a clinical setting, which is integrated with 25060 Herbal Medicine 1: Clinical Practice.
