About this Unit
This unit expands the students' understanding of community health issues by applying these concepts in early childhood settings. Students apply their understanding of growth and development of children under the age of five years (with a focus on children three years and under) and their families, to issues such as health promotion, occupational health and safety, and family health/illness behaviour in early childhood care. The social and cultural aspects of these concepts are addressed within the primary health care framework of the unit.
