About this Unit
In this unit, students develop practical skills and theoretical understandings in music, movement and drama that assist in an early childhood learning environment. They use these art forms to encourage the creative development and independent learning of young children. The ear and voice are the child's basic instruments, and rhythmic speech, singing and movement their methods of expression. The child's level of intellectual, social, physical, emotional and aesthetic development is incorporated into programming and evaluation. Drama and music education are used as a basis for studying major theories of development as they affect children's learning.
