About this Unit
This unit extends previous studies in Early Childhood Pedagogy. It provides an overview of the principles of designing early childhood curricula and learning programs. The interrelationships between observations, child development principles in early learning, and early childhood aims and processes are examined. Appropriate planning, organising, implementing, evaluating and reflective strategies are fostered to meet the diverse needs of all children. The need for teachers and parents to work together is explored. The unit draws together students' knowledge of child development and curriculum content. Students develop a conceptual framework for making decisions about curriculum, programming and pedagogy.
