About this Unit
This unit focuses on children as individuals and as members of families, educational settings and society; educators as people and as professionals; and the complex relationships between family, society and care and educational services and institutions. Based in the contributing disciplines of sociology and social psychology, it explores the impact of social change and cultural diversity on individuals, their belief systems, and the social institutions within which they operate. It examines socialisation processes in families, educational settings and the wider society.
