About this Unit
This unit covers the holistic nature of child development, from early years to adolescence, and the educator's role in enhancing and maximising this development. An overview of life span development including diversity within development provides a context for understanding this developmental period. Students interact with and observe children in a variety of educational settings to apply observational techniques, become familiar with individual differences, and apply theories and principles in the interpretation of children's development. This enables students to determine implications for education and encourages them to recognise links between child development and pedagogy. This unit is linked to professional experience.
