About this Unit
This seminar program brings together fourth-year design students to engage in close readings of a number of significant philosophical, sociological, economic, and cultural studies and/or design theory texts which attempt to analyse/interpret contemporary trends. Students engage with generalist texts which interpret the economic, political, cultural and design implications of reconstructed labour and financial markets, flexible manufacturing processes, rapidly shifting product lines, small-batch production, sustainability and dissolving, and recomposing personal identities.
