About this Unit
In 2015 this unit replaced by 102086 Designing Teaching and Learning. This is the first of two units emphasising contemporary principles and practices in pedagogy to develop a sense of teaching as a profession through reflection on practice. Students will be introduced to practices of determining teacher competence through engagement with the Australian Graduate Teaching Standards. Theories of adolescent development will scaffold how students develop and learn and student teachers will develop lesson plans based on this knowledge of readiness for learning. Fundamentals of effective teaching taking into account the integration of individual differences, specific learning needs, and resource and learning activity development will form the basis of aligning these aspects into teaching and learning approaches.
