About this Unit
In 2013, this unit replaced by 101901 - Tourism and Global Trends. This unit introduces students to the foundational knowledge and skills required for tourism study at UWS and professional practice in a range of tourism related careers. This unit provides students with opportunities to familiarise themselves with the core concepts and basic theory of tourism management studies. It aims to equip students with an understanding of sustainable tourism, the tourism system, and mega trends of tourism. It covers the global complexity of the tourism industry; of the social, environmental, and political realities; and the role of governments – federal, state and local together with private enterprise in the development of tourism experience, industry practice, and destinations.
