About this Unit
In Autumn 2020 this unit replaced by 102746 - Inclusive Education: Principles and Practices. Effective and inclusive teaching requires knowledge of how students learn as well as proficiency in applying appropriately tailored teaching strategies to cater to individual needs of all students. This unit provides a foundation of knowledge and practice that facilitates development of appropriate and inclusive attitudes and skills for teaching students with additional needs in the regular classroom. It will address professional skills, approaches and relevant legislation in the implementation of the principles of inclusive education practices in primary school settings. In particular, the capacity to structure individualised education and behaviour management programs will be developed drawing on practical experiences and a broad familiarity with the field.
