About this Unit
This unit traces the history of twentieth century design from the perspective of its influence both by and on women. Structured around the increasing visibility of women within the design movement, students are exposed to the theoretical concerns that underpin second and third wave feminist debate, and how this has changed the nature of female participation in and representation of women in design practices. This unit combines both textual readings and studio theory case studies in a series of seminars.
