About this Unit
This unit introduces design students to working professionally and creatively with the 'client' through an understanding of various processes and methods of working both conceptually through workshops, discussions, and through project work. Students are introduced to the 'brief' as a tool in design development, work with guest clients and designers, and explore a variety of approaches to developing design outcomes. Through directed classwork, students develop their own project brief, and are given the opportunity to 'sell' their concept in the final presentation. This project will then be the basis for their work in Semester 2, in Design Project Seminar.
