About this Unit
This unit is a core component of the Interpreting and Translation major in the Bachelor of Arts (Interpreting and Translation), and is aimed at developing essential skills in translation in preparation for language-specific practice. The unit deals with the essential basic techniques in translation. Given the large amount of independent practice needed to develop competence in translation, it pays special attention to the teaching of techniques for autonomous learning. Lectures are held in English for students of all languages. The tutorials are language specific in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese.
