The Ancient History sub major addresses the NESA requirements to prepare students who wish to teach Ancient History in secondary schools. Students are required to take one unit of Modern History in their first year and then complete three units in Ancient History. Study of the ancient world introduces students to historical continuity through the experiences of people in different places and time periods. Historical analysis and interpretation draw on physical evidence as well as written materials to investigate the social, political, economic and cultural life in the ancient past.
