The Early Childhood Studies sub-major provides students with foundation studies in the area of early childhood. It provides students with understandings of children and childhood, child development, learning environments and the diversity and difference of children, families and communities. The Early Childhood Studies sub-major is compulsory for students in the Bachelor of Arts (Pathway to Teaching Birth - 5 / Birth - 12).


Sub-major Structure

Students must complete the following four units

102045 Being a Child

From Autumn 2018, unit 102045 Being a Child is no longer offered. Students are advised to contact their Academic Course Advisor for assistance with selecting an alternative unit.

102046 The Developing Child
102047 Learning Environments

From Spring 2018, 102047 Learning Environments is no longer offered. Students are advised to select the alternative unit 101663 Education for Sustainability instead.
