Western Sydney University Course Code: 4554.1

Naturopathy is an holistic form of health care. It is a profession that aims to bring wellbeing and health to people through the use of multi-modal techniques to address health problems and lifestyle issues. These techniques are founded on the principle that the body has the capacity to heal itself, given the time, support and assistance which naturopathy can provide. The Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) aims to prepare graduates who will be able to work as primary contact health care professionals in this highly sought after area of care.

Study Mode
The Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) is a three-year full time course. Classes are offered at the Bankstown Campus.

Advanced standing

The course is delivered through an articulation arrangement with Endeavour College of Natural Therapies, a private provider located at Summer Hill. Endeavour College of Natural Therapies provides the 15 Naturopathic units. They also provide the facilities and supervision for clinical practice, which students take over and above the 24 units that must be completed.

Accreditation
The program has been developed to meet the standards necessary for graduates to apply for membership of professional associations and for GST-free registration. Graduates of the course may apply to become accredited practitioners (on completion of the degree and of all clinical requirements) with bodies such as the Australian Traditional Medicine Society and the Australian Natural Therapies Association.

Admission

The usual policies for admission to the University of Western Sydney apply for entry to the course. All potential students must apply for admission to the course though the Universities Admission Centre (UAC).

Special Requirements Prerequisites
Students must obtain evidence of criminal record clearance before being allowed to undertake professional experience in facilities operated by NSW Health.

Course Structure

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 240 credit points including the units listed in the recommended sequence below.

Elective units may be chosen from any award offered by Western Sydney University, provided that unit prerequisites are met and space is available.

Students must undertake clinical practice, which is supervised and assessed by Endeavour College, and is external to the 3 year, full-time study program.
