Systems Agriculture is based on the idea of enhancing people's capacity to manage change by developing their ability to learn how to learn, to improve problem situations and to communicate effectively. This is achieved through students completing a number of projects in farming and agribusiness contexts with clients. Approximately half of the units in the course enhance the students' contemporary knowledge on agricultural and social sciences to both support their projects and their professional development. The third semester of the course involves students completing units while involved with a farm or other industry placement and a minimum of eight weeks is spent being hosted by industry clients in their workplace. The course prepares graduates for careers in advisory and consultancy services; farm management; agricultural education; rural development; environmental protection and restoration; rural counselling; research and development support; agricultural marketing; producer organisations; agricultural commerce; rural broadcasting and journalism and land care facilitation.
