The graduate diploma offers students the opportunity of gaining cultural knowledge and language skills, highly desirable attributes in today's global market place. If the course is taken with an undergraduate degree at UWS many students will be able to complete two awards in the time it takes to complete one.

Study Mode
One year part-time for students entering at the advanced level or two years part-time for students entering at the beginners or intermediate level.

Advanced standing

Up to 40 credit points can be awarded upon successful completion of a selected advanced level language unit.

Admission

Applications for the course must be made through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Further information on postgraduate courses is available on the Local Admissions section of the UWS website.

Students must either be currently enrolled in a bachelor degree at UWS, or have completed an undergraduate degree and gain admission as a graduate.

Course Structure

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 80 credit points including the units listed in the recommended sequence below.

Students must begin their studies at the appropriate level for their existing language skills: that is beginners, intermediate (HSC level), or post-intermediate (fluent). Students able to begin at the advanced level will be given 40 credit points in recognition of their previous knowledge. The graduate diploma cannot be awarded before the student completes his or her bachelor or other degree at Western Sydney University.
