About this Unit
The study of motivation and emotion attempts to understand the reasons behind people's behaviours, thoughts, and feelings. In addition to being interesting in its own right, concepts of motivation and emotion are central to many other aspects of psychology. This unit therefore examines core research and theory in motivation and emotion, but also explores the topic's relationship with other areas of psychology, (such as learning theory, social psychology, personality, and cognition) and its relevance to central debates discussed throughout the discipline. Emphasis is placed upon the use of research to inform theory, and the application of theory in guiding psychological practice. This unit does not form part of an APAC-accredited sequence in Psychology.
