This major is available to all Western Sydney University students except students in the Bachelor of Economics or students undertaking an Applied Economics or Economics and Finance Key Program. An add-on economics major or sub-major can complement almost any degree, be it in business or any other area. Economics gives a broad perspective on a very fundamental aspect of relationships between individuals, firms, institutions and countries. It has been described by some as the queen of social sciences, since it is of relevance to almost all areas of study. Students who study economics can expect to develop their analytical skills and to be intellectually challenged, whether they view the discipline as providing specific vocational skills or as simply an area of general interest to them.
