About this Unit
This unit focuses on the organisation of a market-based economy in respect to its impact and influence on the environment. Broad theoretical models of economic growth are juxtaposed to the current Australian and global environmental issues which have arisen from the economic growth process. Within this context the economist's methods of analysing the use (and abuse) of natural and environmental resources are examined. This establishes the policy alternatives available to resolve the conflict between growth and the environment.
