About this Unit
This unit provides an in-depth analysis of the Asian economies, in particular, the four newly industrialised economies of Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan and the four second-tier newly industrialising Southeast Asian economies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. It also examines the role of Japan and economic liberalisation of China. The focus is on trade, industrial structure, foreign investment, industrial relations, human resources development, income distribution and poverty, and management of the environment. Emphasis is on the similarities and differences in the policy framework in these economies. Unit available for masters only.
