About this Unit
This unit equips students with a range of analytical skills enabling them to explore the ways in which meanings about race, and Aboriginality in particular are constructed through texts. Films, photographs, television programs, music and visual performance art are studied. The texts all contain representations of Aboriginal people. This unit helps students understand the ways that representation of Aboriginality, past and present, shapes the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians today.
