About this Unit
In this unit students will explore leisure education as a broad category of services that focus on the development and acquisition of a range of leisure related skills, knowledge and attitudes. Students will develop an understanding of the broad range of knowledge, skills and attitudes that contribute to a leisure lifestyle. Students will develop knowledge of the phenomenon of leisure, skills in communication and facilitation to enable them to facilitate appropriate decision-making regarding leisure choices in practice. Students will utilise leisure resources to develop satisfying leisure experiences for the client populations they serve. Students will be introduced to a number of models of leisure education to develop, implement and evaluate leisure lifestyle options in their practice of diversional therapy/therapeutic recreation.
