About this Unit
This advanced level unit builds on the knowledge and skills gained in other computing units including Using Computer Technology and Desktop Publishing. Students become acquainted with various forms of multimedia used in Internet publishing, including a variety of graphical elements, animation, sound and video. Components of the unit include a review of web technologies and authoring environments, and an examination of appropriate file formats, compression, colour theory, calibration and scanning for the web. Students gain a good understanding of the theory and basic principles of multimedia technology, and practical experience in developing simple multimedia Internet applications, with a focus on applying appropriate concepts and publishing live.
