This unit has been replaced by 101319 - Drugs, Addiction and Society. This unit introduces some of the basic concepts in the study of alcohol and other drugs and forms of dependence from a behavioural and social science perspective. Drug use and abuse has become a highly publicised area of concern to the community yet most health workers (including nurses) receive minimal education. This unit begins to address that problem by providing a safe educational space to explore alcohol and other drug and co-dependency issues.
