About this Unit
This is the second of a series of two units within the Italian major (Italian 301 being the first) that aim to provide a thorough review of the grammar and vocabulary of modern standard Italian, its range of registers and its linguistic characteristics. The series is intended for students who have knowledge and skills in Italian equivalent to two years of tertiary education in the language. While consolidating skills in the language, these units aim, in addition, to enable students to acquire and expand knowledge of key elements of Italian linguistics, including critical points of linguistic history and contemporary developments. An Italian-English comparative perspective is adopted in order to explore linguistic developments within the Italo-Australian experience.
