About this UnitThis unit provides an introduction to the work of Sigmund Freud by examining central concept and methodologies within Freudian theory. The unit is intended to provide a broad overview of psychoanalysis. In this unit particular attention is paid to key terms such as the unconscious and repression, as well as to the early case histories and Freud's later 'structural' models of the mind. Attention is paid also to critical assessments of psychoanalysis and to its status as a science.
