About this Unit
In 2014 this unit replaced by 102099 20th Century American Literature. This unit explores American literature from its colonial beginnings to the present. Issues to be examined will include some of the following: the construction of a national literature, struggles for justice and human rights, intersection of race, gender, and sexuality, the ideology of American Exceptionalism, and the rise and fall of “The American Dream.” Texts may include fiction, poetry, and drama.
