About this UnitThis unit examines the history of work, work relations, workers and workers' organisations in Australia from the time of European settlement. The unit investigates the concept of 'work', both paid and unpaid, voluntary and domestic. The focus is on social and political aspects of paid work, through the development of unionism, politics and arbitration. It also involves an analysis of structured and unstructured volunteer labour and its impact on Australian society.
