About this UnitIn 2010 this unit replaced by 101711 - Language and Grammatical Concepts 3A: Italian. This is the first of a series of two mandatory units within the Italian major that aim to provide a thorough review of the grammar and vocabulary, of modern standard Italian, its range of registers and its linguistic characteristics. The series is intended for students who have knowledge and skills in Italian equivalent to two years of tertiary education in the language. While consolidating skills in the language these units aim, in addition, to have students acquire and expand knowledge of key elements of Italian linguistics, including its linguistic history and contemporary developments. An Italian-English comparative perspective is adopted in order to explore linguistic developments within the Italo-Australian experience.
