Psychology is the field of inquiry that uses scientific techniques and methods to understand and explain behaviour and experience. As a profession, it involves the application of psychological knowledge to practical problems in human behaviour. Units in the program are drawn from the following core areas of psychology: brain and behaviour, learning, motivation and emotion, social psychology, lifespan development, perception, and cognitive processes.


Major Structure

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Arts in psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as an undergraduate three-year sequence in psychology, provided you complete both the 80-credit point psychology major and the 40-credit point psychology sub-major. The 120-credit point accredited psychology sequence is a prerequisite for admission into a fourth year psychology program, either an Honours degree, or a Postgraduate Diploma

Recommended full-time study sequence 2010 (years 1-3) Bankstown and Penrith Campus.

The accredited sequence for Psychology requires completion of 120 credit points, comprising an 80 credit point major and a 40 credit point sub-major, as listed below.

Please note that the 120 credit point accredited Psychology sequence is not available to students enrolled in course 1651.3 Bachelor of Arts (Pathway to Teaching Primary). These students may take the 80 credit point Psychology major as shown in the second sequence listed below.
