This degree comprises three areas of major: biomedical science, medicinal chemistry and physiology and anatomy. The biomedical science major focuses on microbiology, biochemistry and aspects of health. The medicinal chemistry major focuses on chemistry and biochemistry, while the physiology and anatomy major focuses on anatomy and physiology. Graduates of this degree will find employment in areas such as medical research laboratories, hospital laboratories and in pathology laboratories and be well suited for positions in the pharmaceutical, medical sales and various research and quality control laboratories, as well as further study including research degrees and graduate medicine degrees.

Study Mode
The course is delivered in internal mode. Full-time undergraduate students will undertake the course over three years. Students may take a reduced load in consultation with the course coordinator. The Physiology and Anatomy Major is only available on the Campbelltown campus.

Accreditation
The Bachelor of Medical Science (Medicinal Chemistry) is accredited by The Royal Australian Chemical Institute Incorporated (RACI).

Admission

Admission to the course would normally be through UAC or the University's Guaranteed Course Transfer Program. Assumed knowledge: Mathematics plus any two of Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
