On successful completion of this course, students gain knowledge, skills and expertise that enable them to become professional accounting practitioners. The Master of Accountancy is accredited with and satisfies the pre-admission educational requirements for membership of CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accounting Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). It can also be taken as an extension of the MPA as it contains the same twelve core units as the MPA, plus four additional electives.

Study Mode
Two years full-time or four years part-time.

Advanced standing

A maximum of three introductory units may be granted. Advanced standing is not available to students who do not possess an Australian bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.

Accreditation
The Master of Accountancy is accredited with and satisfies the pre-admission educational requirements for membership of CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accounting Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).

Admission

Applicants must have successfully completed one of the following:

An undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline other than an accredited accounting major, or

A Graduate Diploma in any discipline, or

A Graduate Certificate in any discipline, or

A masters qualification in any discipline except accounting, or

A university diploma in any discipline, or

An Advanced Diploma in accounting and have five years full time equivalent business experience.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience MUST support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.

Statement of Service

Applications from Australian and New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent resident visas must be made via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

Applicants who have undertaken studies overseas may have to provide proof of proficiency in English. This degree is internationally accredited with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and students who complete this degree will receive exemptions from 11 ACCA papers.
