The Master of Education (Leadership and Management) is an ideal course for professionals aspiring to become leaders in a range of educational organisations, locally and internationally. Units are drawn from the School of Education and the School of Business, providing professionals with comprehensive skills, knowledge and competencies to lead teaching and learning as well as lead organisations in an ever-changing business climate. A capstone unit provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to solve a real-world education business management problem through action-learning. Focusing on theory and practice, the course has significant application to the workplace.

Study Mode
One and a half years full-time or three years part-time

Advanced standing

Students with a postgraduate (Level 8) qualification in a cognate discipline OR a bachelor qualification (Level 7) plus three years full-time professional work experience in the fields of teaching/education, political science, policy studies, human welfare studies and services, or behavioural science can apply for up to four units Advanced Standing.

Admission

Applicants for admission into the Master of Education (Leadership and Management) must have successfully completed

  • a graduate certificate or higher, in teaching/education, political science, policy studies, business studies, health, human welfare studies and services, or behavioural science Or
  • a bachelor degree in the fields of teaching/education or a related field.

Overseas qualifications must be deemed by the Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) to be equivalent to Australian qualifications in order to be considered by UAC and Western Sydney University.

Course Structure

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 120 credit points (a minimum of 40 credit points from the School of Education Core and Pool units listed below, and up to 80 credit points from the School of Business) as per the recommended sequence below.

For onshore students, education units are offered at Kingswood campus in First Half (1H) and Second Half (2H). Business units are offered at Parramatta City campus in teaching session quarters (Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4). Students are required to travel between campuses in order to complete their units.

Note: This course is also delivered in quarters, offshore, at the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from Q2, 2021.
