Commencement Year 2010 - 1602.2 Graduate Certificate in Interpreting and Translation

The Graduate Certificate in Interpreting and Translation is a non-language specific foundation and professional development course. It is suitable for practising interpreters and translators with no prior training who wish to learn the theory to inform their practice. It also provides preparation for the examinations of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Interpreting and Translation can articulate into the Master of Arts Translation and Interpreting Studies and Master of Interpreting and Translation. Credit towards any of the MAs is given for up to four common units. This means that a graduate of the Graduate Certificate in Interpreting and Translation may graduate with a Master of Arts Translation and Interpreting Studies or Master of Interpreting and Translation by completing only four extra units.

Subject to demand, the following languages are available: Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin and Spanish.

Applicants must have:

An undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification in any discipline

Native or near native proficiency in one of the following languages: Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish
