This unit develops mediation skills for and understandings of family dispute resolution. It builds on 200633 Family Law to deepen student knowledge of and capacity to assist separated parents to resolve disputes about their children and property. Particular attention is given to processes concerning children and processes to assist families who present with highly complex family dynamics, including the presence of family violence. The University has entered an Articulation Agreement with a registered training organisation which enables graduands of this unit to apply to have their competency in relation to the six core FDR units of the Vocational Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution assessed in the clinical placement component of that program, and so seek accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner if they wish.
