About this Unit
This unit introduces a range of theoretical approaches to performance. Performance Theory in this unit is approached thematically. Central issues and analytical ideas are related to current creative practice; this unit requires students to attend specific performances. These shared experiences as audience members create a foundation for interrogating the relationship between theory and practice. Associate with this is basic performance analysis, studies in performance languages, theories of communication and the ways in which different communication media operate in performance.
