Graduates from this course will have advanced knowledge and skills to undertake sound applied clinical research in healthcare from the development of a research question through to publishing the results of their research. Students will gain knowledge and understanding in all aspects of the research process involving human participants. Through searching and critiquing the literature, and formulating a full research proposal, students will complete a Human Research Ethics Application (HREA). Thereby, demonstrating their knowledge and skills to conceptualise and conduct a research project in a clinical setting. Successful completion of this course provides an articulation pathway into higher level research qualifications offered at Western.

Admission

Candidature for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Applied Clinical Health Research is based on the following requirements:

Successful completion of an Advanced Diploma, or higher, in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, pathology, optometry, nutrition, human science, naturopathy, complementary medicine, nursing, midwifery, psychology, health science, sports science or physiotherapy

And

One year full-time equivalent work experience in a health related discipline and current employment in a health setting.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience MUST support their application with a statement of service for all work experience listed on the application
